Rescue Me ID: 16-06-20-00559Ravishing Ruby (female)

Airedale Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

While she looks very much like a Black German Shepherd or Belgian Shepherd, Ruby is actually a gorgeous mix of Airedale Terrier and Border Collie. This very devoted 5 year old female dog is such an intelligent, affectionate and obedient companion. She has had all of her vet care done up to date; she is spayed, Microchipped and Fully vaccinated. She has had lots of training, too - she is house broken, leash trained and obedience trained. Ruby loves to be active, and needs a good bit of daily exercise to keep her happy and healthy. She gets along really well with other dogs, with one exception: yappy little dogs who challenge her when she is ... (Read More)on her leash. That she will not abide, and has snapped at one such dog when she was being walked by her owner. This is something that her new owners will need to be wary of. Ruby loves children, as long as they respect dogs and do not poke eyes, pull ears and tail, or body-slam her. Ideally, kids older than 8 would be her preference. She is very devoted to her humans, and loves to adhere to a solid routine, particularly where her feeding and potty schedule are concerned. Ruby is being rehomed by her owner, who is absolutely heartbroken to have to make this very difficult decision to find her a new home. Unfortunately, her significant other is extremely allergic to Ruby, and is unable to manage living in the same environment. Ruby's owner is hoping to find Ruby and new home where she will be cherished as much as she is now, and given the best of care, exercise and companionship for the rest of her life. The ideal home for Ruby will be with active people who have lots of time to spend with her. She needs a securely fenced back yard to play in, and folks who are able to take her out every day for a good long walk or run. She would love some older children to play with, and the company of another dog (as long as the dog is not small and yappy!). Ruby's owner would love to be able to keep in touch with her once she is placed in her new home, and would even welcome the opportunity to visit or pet sit for her new family. Hopefully that would be OK with you. Please offer this amazing girl the loving, forever home she needs and deserves. If you have questions about Ruby, please feel free to call Debbie Moore toll free at (888) 720-3322 or fill out our online information form below to request the opportunity to meet Ruby with her owner. Once received, we will contact you to discuss your request and set up a mutually convenient time to meet Ruby and her owner in their home. REQUEST TO MEET RUBY HERE! There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. All supplies will be included. Location: Denver, CO, 80247 Type of Pet: Dog Breed: Border Collie/Airedale Terrier Age: 5 1/2 years Color/Coat Type: Black, coarse long Size: 40 lbs. Health Issues: No, just a broken tooth Behavior Issues: Dislikes little yappy dogs Ruby is: Spayed, Microchipped, Fully vaccinated, House Broken, Leash Trained, Obedience Trained Ruby gets along with: Older Children, Dogs, Small Animals Ruby is eager to please, hyper when she's been alone, cuddly and very loving. She's loyal, a great watchdog and very obedient. She knows sit, stay, come, wait, leave it, down, off, dance, shake, heel commands. She's house trained and used to being the pet of a nurse, so 12 hours is no big deal for her to hold it. She had separation anxiety and ptsd when I got her, but has not exhibited any signs of those in over 4 years. My significant other is severely allergic to Ruby, and we end up spending a lot of time away from her because of that. I will be moving in with him in August, and cannot take her. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting an Airedale in Colorado
Airedale Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Airedale Terrier is a lively, intelligent breed. Airedales are loyal and eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Airedales make entertaining pets and great working or hunting dogs. The Airedale Terrier has a dominant streak and can be very rowdy unless properly trained. Airedale Terriers may play too roughly for very small children, but usually do fine with kids if exposed to them as puppies. Airedales get along well with cats but might bully other dogs in a household with multiple pets. Airedales need a lot of exercise and long walks every day or they may act up and get into trouble.
